The Cost Of Love

Amidst the myriad of things that can happen on Bora Bora is to be swept away by the beauty & the romance of this wonderful gift of Mother Nature & to spontaneously decide to undertake a special traditional Tahitian ceremony in an intimate & romantic setting so as to celebrate & to seal one’s life-long love.

After a couple of days relaxing on the beach & having undertaken a couple of tours many are looking for that something special, that something unique that will make their stay unforgettable.

More & more are turning to a vibrant, colourful, moving & emotionally charged ceremony designed specifically for them. A celebration staged at the best locations on Bora Bora – isolated, private & romantic motus with swaying palms, white sands, the best of Bora Bora’s lagoon & under the ever present watch of mythical Mt Otemanu. Traditional Tahitian Weddings, a Renewal of Vows Ceremonies or indeed a specialised Honeymoon Ceremony are all the rage.

In considering to celebrate one’s love in paradise the most recent Bride to Be – Cost of Love survey, a survey conducted annually since 1997 & the only national survey of its kind in Australia, makes for interesting reading:

cost-of-love

GENERAL

The survey reports that the average cost of a wedding in Australia is now $AUD65,482!

In reaching this figure the survey considered, Pre-wedding parties, Engagement & wedding rings, Bride & Groom’s outfits, Bridal party costs, Professional hair & make-up, Reception & Honeymoon (but excluded matters such as pre-wedding beauty, additional jewellery purchases & venue hire costs).

PLANNING:

The survey reports that the average wedding budget that is set by couples is $31,125 – a staggering $34,232 below what they actually spend!

The report adds: “1 in 3 wish they could have eloped to save all the stress of planning”

PHOTOGRAPHY

Couples spend an average $3083 on wedding photography, with 1 in 4 spending over $4000. 43% of couples will have videography at their wedding, paying an average of $2606 with 6% spending over $4000.

OTHER FINDINGS

There were a couple of other quite intriguing findings including:

  • 14 % of brides will get cosmetic surgery in preparation for their wedding;
  • 13% of brides felt their parents interfered in the wedding planning, whilst 21% said their partner’s parents so interfered;
  • 1 in 3 were “very stressed” about planning with 22% saying they had less sex as a result whilst 25% had more!
  • 1 in 3 couples are having a ‘destination wedding’ with 56% of those having such a wedding doing so in an outdoor ceremony;
  • Over half of those being married opt for a beach honeymoon;
  • 4 in 5 couples will honeymoon overseas.

In summary, the cost to celebrate in Bora Bora through the conducting of a tailored ceremony looks more than reasonable; the opportunity to hold such a ceremony in paradise, more than achievable.

With “1 in 3 wish(ing) they could have eloped to save all the stress of planning”, a stress free ceremony with the celebrations coming well within budget has an understandable appeal.
