Beauty pageants have the ability to attract a crowd & it was no exception for Miss Bora Bora 2014. Six claimants to the title lined up last week-end in what was a great night’s entertainment marked by that special touch of the famed local choreographer & dance group leader, Maramar:
The contestants paraded in a number of outfits before an enthusiastic crowd. Of course, in bikinis!
There was a parade in evening dress:

Three major titles are awarded on the evening – Miss Bora Bora, the Runner-Up to Miss Bora Bora & Miss Heiva, an ancient title, known formerly as Miss Tiurai dating back through the centuries when Polynesians elected the best amongst them on the basis of beauty, knowledge of Polynesian culture & their abilities in Ori Tahiti (Tahitian dancing).

An intriguing touch was the surge of people onto the dance-floor, to (tahitian) waltz away the half an hour break taken by the jury to deliberate to determine the winners; no sit & chat over a ‘red’ here:
